The Room is an independent movie made by Tommy Wisseau in 2003. It is one of those movies that is so bad, that it is really really funny. It runs about an 90 minutes, and I laughed most of that time at how absurd the film is. I can think about certain scenes and it makes me chuckle right now as I am typing this. I am fervently waiting for anyone to get my reference when i say “oh hi mark!” or “YOU’RE TEARING ME APART LISA!!” in a thick eastern European accent.
The script is so damn ridiculous and the acting is so terrible that the film just works. It comes together into a strange dark comedy that is terribly enjoyable. as a testimony to how good this bad film is, it is STILL being shown in theatres worldwide. In fact, this Friday, September 28, Coolidge Corner theatre in Brookline is showing it at midnight. Go see it if you can. It will be the center of discussion among your friends for at least 1.4 days.
